The Dance Class (Gallery 815)
Exiting the spacious Gallery 462, pass through galleries 455 and 454 to the opposite side of this wing, where you'll enter the 19th and 20th century European and Sculpture collection. Like the American wing, which you'll visit later, this one is large; it contains over 30 individual galleries, some smaller than others. Remember to check the doorways for the numbers of the galleries. Arrows and gallery numbers will point you in the right direction. As you pass through galleries, be sure to pause in front of paintings and sculptures that appeal to you! The first stop in this area will be in Gallery 815, which is at the approximate centre of this wing. However, you will need to take a right turn once in Gallery 804 and wend your way through several rooms until you arrive at Degas's painting, The Dance Class. The image is on the left, facing the back wall of gallery 815.
