Leave the European Paintings area and proceed to the American Wing. You will not return to the entrance above the Grand Staircase. Instead, you’ll walk in the opposite direction through galleries 618, 617, and 615. When you get to gallery 614, you will turn right and exit to the American Wing. You’ll have reached the mezzanine above the Charles Englehard Court and the cafe. Turn left, then right. You’ll cross gallery 706 with cases displaying silver, glass, ceramics, and jewellery, including some magnificent Art Nouveau-style objects. The first gallery you’ll reach in the American Wing is 772. Turn left and pass through gallery 769 to 768, where you’ll see the Cassatt painting on the far wall to the right.
