The double church
Agia Paraskevi
Agia Paraskevi was built sometime before 1745 to serve the needs of the poor residents of Oia. It is a fine example of the anonymous vernacular architecture that endowed the island of Santorini with six hundred churches and chapels. The church's sanctuary is a true yposkafo carved into volcanic rock. The adjacent building is a “panegerospito”, a space to prepare food for distribution to the faithful to celebrate the saint’s name day.
