Alexander the Great - Fragment of a marble relief
The Polycentric Museum of Aigai is massive. The main units extend over 146.000m2 and consist of the brand-new main building in front of us; the ground-breaking Museum of the Royal Tombs; the palace of the Macedonian kings, and the ancient theater of Aigai. You will need strong legs or a car to visit them all, but it is more than worth it. The tour begins with the new museum dedicated to life in the ancient city of Aigai. Hopefully, you are approaching the building as innocents abroad. The less you know about it beforehand, the more pleasure you will derive from your visit. This museum puts every conventional museum to shame. Nothing will be the same when you come out at the end of the tour. Spend a few minutes familiarizing yourself with the area’s geography in the information panel to your right, just before the museum’s main entrance. And then enter the building. The Museum's Ticket Desk is to the right. After you finish the formalities, turn your attention to the marble bust between the two massive television screens on the wall. Alexander the Great eagerly awaits to welcome you to the museum.
