The mistakes of the Regency at first and of the King himself later on led to the discontent of the people and the Great Powers towards the Bavarian rule. The financial difficulties, the issues of the grant of Constitution and succession of the throne and the objection of the people to Otto’s policy led to his dethronement and expulsion. As a result, the Royal Couple abandoned their beloved country and returned to Bavaria.
