The father's shop
Drug use & rehabilitation centres
"My father had opened a shop and I went to work with him with the prospect of later taking over. At the same time, I started going to night school, but I stopped it when it was time for my military service. Shortly before I was discharged, I received a letter from my father saying that because of financial difficulties he had to sell the shop. Nevertheless, a term of the agreement was that the new owner would hire me as an employee when I finished my service. So it was. When I was discharged, along with the job, I continued with the night school. With my earnings, I rented a small apartment in Nea Smyrni and I left from my mother’s house again. It was then that I first got involved with substance abuse. Since then and for twelve years I have not really been living. I was a shadow of myself, as the expression goes."
