Azoguejo Square
The Aqueduct
Segovia is the capital of the eponymous province of Castile and Leon. Lying at the foot of the Guadarrama Mountains, it’s home to 50,000 residents. The term Azoguejo is derived from as-suq, the Arabic word for zouk or bazaar. The small market, or "suburbs market," used to take place here, as the main one was held in the main square. Even now, you can see six distinct ways to the surrounding neighborhoods. Three on one side of the aqueduct and three on the other. Today, this is the social hub of the city.
