The name of Syntagma Square
The first Greek Constitution of 1844
Due to the riot on the night of 2nd to 3rd September 1833 and the National Assembly that followed, the Constitution was finally signed by Otto on 3rd September 1843. As a result, the Square in front of the Palace was named Syntagma Square to remind people of the riot. Finally, 3rd September was declared as public holiday by royal edict.
