The legislative power
The first Greek Constitution of 1844
The King along with the Parliament which was elected by the people, according to a system which was more or less democratic, and the Senate which was appointed for life would exercise the legislative power. The King also had the executive power. The Ministers who were appointed and dismissed by him, without the approval of the Parliament, would exercise it. However, the democratic elements weren’t absent. All citizens were equal before the law, there was guarantee of individual freedom, freedom of the press and the right to assemble and form nonprofit associations and unions. Slavery was not recognized in Greece.
