A goddess among us
Ancient Greek cats
The battle between the monstrous giant Typhon and the Olympian gods was brutal. Typhon, whose head brushed the stars, had one hundred snake heads that emitted fire and every kind of noise on his shoulders. In strength, he surpassed all the offspring of Earth and challenged Zeus for the rule of the world. Terrible clamour and strife ensued. Even Hades, in the underworld, trembled as thunder and lightning shook the earth. Most of the gods fled to Egypt, where they transformed into animal forms to escape the monster’s fearful wrath. Artemis became a cat and maintained her disguise until Zeus defeated Typhon and buried him under Mount Etna in Sicily.
