The Casanova residence
The first woman
The income from two years of performances in London (and a potential secret payoff from the king of England) allowed the Casanovas to rent a respectable house at 3082 Calle Malipiero. The three-story house belonged to Zanetta’s godfather and came with an impressive entrance and a spacious ballroom. Zanetta’s mother lived just around the corner, while the theatre, where she pursued her acting career, was also nearby. Gaetano started making optical instruments. The arrival of his younger brother was rather disagreeable for Giacomo, who had grown accustomed to being the centre of attention at his grandmother’s house.
