The carnival around the world
Carnival in Greece
Only Catholic and Orthodox Christians celebrate carnival, while in the Protestant North Europe, this celebration does not exist. Some countries and cities famous for their Carnival are: Venice, Germany, Nice in France, Cologne and other cities in the River Rhine, where carnival is an important part of the local tradition. Associations and organizations prepare all year round for these days. The Rio de Janeiro Carnival is considered to be the biggest carnival of the world, with millions of people in the streets and a presentation, similar to a show, which is combined with traditional dances, like Samba.
