Thorvaldsen’s apartment
Kronprinsensgate 13
During World War II, resistance work in Kristiansand occurred in a traditional housing block in the city, locally known as Thorvaldsen’s Farm. In a small room hidden in the rafters, a secret printing press was used to print Sørlandsfronten, or The Southern Front, an illegal newspaper for the resistance movement. On the way into the room, there was an alarm button, and inside the room hung a poster warning not to enter if you had ‘ a sour stomach.’ On the ceiling were pencil drawings of maps. The Gestapo suspected this was happening here but never found this little room hidden in the attic during their searches.
