During the Second World War, it was forbidden to own a radio. Many chose to listen to the radio to gain important information from the Allies on the progress of the resistance—the significant risk associated with the distribution of illegal newspapers requiring a degree of creativity. One example was rolling these newspapers inside bicycle handlebars, as shown in the picture below.
