How to lose a fortune
The answer to life, sex, and everything
Hymen was the son of Magnes and was greatly admired by all around for his physical appearance. Apollo, unfazed by all the disasters that had struck his other lovers, was determined to spend some quality time with Hymen. His love was so ardent that as soon as he visited the house of Magnes, where Hymen lived, he refused to leave it. His brother, Hermes, took advantage of Apollo’s passion and stole twelve heifers, a hundred cows, and a bull from Apollo’s herd of cattle. This was a tremendous blow to Apollo. It was not so much the material loss but the indignity of having his animals stolen while he was enjoying the love of a mortal.
