Backgammon is probably the oldest board game which is still being played. The oldest backgammon board, which was found in Shahr-e Sūkhté, Iran, dates back to 3000 BC. Another ancient backgammon board, which was found in Chaldea, Mesopotamia, dates back to the years between 2900 and 1800 BC.
