Théâtre antique d'Orange
The Roman Theatre of Orange was built in the first century and is considered among the best-preserved Roman theatres in the world. It is also one of the oldest in France. It could accommodate approximately seven thousand spectators (70% of the town’s population), who would enjoy performances of pantomime, masked improvised farces, poetry readings, and mimes. The theatre closed in 391 and was ruined during subsequent barbarian invasions.
