Église Saint-Florent
The Church of Saint Florentius was built in the 14th century to serve the needs of the Franciscans, the Catholic religious order founded by Francis of Assisi. They used a piece of land where a pagan temple once stood. The church was dedicated to Florentius of Orange, the city’s patron saint. It houses some of his relics, alongside many tombs belonging to powerful members of the House of Baux, who used to rule vast tracts of lands in southern France in the Middle Ages.
