Oni Center
Oni, located in western Georgia, is a town in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region and is surrounded by high mountains, it is 1326.3 sq.m. with 2656 people inhabiting the place. Oni is first mentioned in old sources in the XV-XVI centuries and in the middle ages Oni’s significance as the feudal city increased, it was an important trade location. The city preserves a synagogue from the middle ages. In old times there lived a lot of Jewish families. Despite a post-Soviet tendency towards migration, Oni still retains a small number of Jewish families - remnants of once powerful and large historic Jewish community.
