Sergi Metreveli was a wine-maker in Kislovodosk during the 1940s. When Nazis attacked the city, Metreveli helped six Jews escape and led them to his native village in Georgia; It took 16 days to get there. While in Kislovodosk Sergi Merteveli had a pregnant wife and three children, who also were sheltering two teenage Jewish girls, who soon decided to leave and join other Jews in a safe place. Among the Jewish people, Sergi Metreveli helped there was 16-year-old Emil Zigel, who has lost his three brothers in a war, while his parents were shot by German soldiers. He was suffering from Malaria, but upon arriving in Utsera his illness was treated by the Metreveli family and he soon recovered, later he joined the war to fight against the Nazis.
