District Court
Landgericht
The district court was located on Domplatz until 1911. In 1916, the new district court was a modern new building including prison. The location to the municipal theater Schwab has been somewhat generous.Schwab writes:Facing the municipal theater rises the monumental building of the district court, which was built in the years 1908-11, according to drafts drawn up in the Ministry of Public Works and Oberleitung of the Real Secret Chief Building Officer Thömer, by the government master builder Vogel as local construction manager at a cost of about 600 000 M.As a plaster building in the forms of German Renaissance with architectural parts and rich ornamental decoration of the gables built of Blankenburg sandstone, the three-storey building, enlivened by some sculptural work, forms a well-done neuschöpfung post-medieval architecture. A son of those distant days, Eyke von Repkow, the author of the "Sachsenspiegel", the first German teacher of law, has received in front of the front, in an effective place, his place in stone; on finely articulated limestone pedestal rises the figure of the master - a Roland German sense of justice.[...] From the district court you can go through the court street to the newly built court prison, which is designed and furnished according to the laws of humanity and hygiene. The friendly and simple church on the upper floor with basket-arched ceiling, pulpit altar and soaring windows is well suited to gather the visitors of the hours in quiet and peaceful mind..
