Breiterweg | Schützenstraße
Breiterweg | Schützenstraße
Schwab writes:I have passed the Breite Tor, which affords a view of the Huywald, and am on the main thoroughfare, the Breiteweg. A few steps before [...] at the bend of Schützenstraße the old tombstones of the Martini churchyard peeked out through the iron lattice of the enclosing wall onto the street; death alone has long lost its terror here; friendly green lovingly entwines itself around the gravesites, colorful butterflies flutter over it, and the birds jubilate on high.Info:- In the Middle Ages, the Breite Tor was one of the seven city gates. Parts of the city wall are still preserved, as can be seen here on Schützenstraße.- Outside the city, at the Breite Tor, was a small cemetery.
