A drop of Renaissance
Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist
The Turin Cathedral was built in the end of the 15th century and is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. It is the only Renaissance-style church in the city. The cathedral is the final resting place for royal consorts and princesses of the House of Savoy. However, the church is famous for the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, built in the late 17th century to house the linen cloth venerated by the faithful as the burial shroud used to wrap the body of Jesus of Nazareth after his crucifixion.
