Corfu’s brief Serbian migration
Serbian Museum
Among the historic buildings here is the one you are standing in front of, housing the Serbian Museum. It contains artefacts from the 150,000 Serbian soldiers who found refuge in Corfu after the defeat of the Serbian army by Austro-Hungarians during World War One. The Serbs remained for three years, both in Corfu and on the tiny island of Vidos, opposite the Old Fortress, where there is a Serbian mausoleum. In the museum are exhibits like military uniforms, equipment, medals and flags, as well as photographs, church clothes and other objects.
