Where the union was decided
Ionian Parliament
A series of historic events then unfolded. King Otto and Queen Amalia were exiled from Greece in 1862. And in the following year, Great Britain and the Four Powers (Austria, Russia, Prussia and France) signed a protocol in London ending British protection of the Ionian Islands. As a result, in 1863, the 13th Parliament of the Ionian Islands passed the resolution to unite the Ionian State and the Kingdom of Greece in this building. Today, part of the building houses an Anglican church while the rest is used for events.
