A who’s who of Corfu personalities
Boschetto Garden
Another important memorial in the garden is that of Lord Guilford (the founder of the Ionian Academy) by sculptor Kosmas Apergis in 1883. To the right and left of the statue are identical semicircular stone benches, flanked by a peristyle. Other busts include poet Lorentzos Mavilis (who was born in Ithaca but lived in Corfu) and, opposite him, Konstantinos Theotokis, both important representatives of the Heptanese (or Ionian) School of literature.
