The Lower Barrakka Gardens offer another splendid view of the Grand Harbour and the so-called Three Cities, the fortified settlements across the water. Like the Upper Barrakka, this pleasant public terrace occupies a lofty part of the old ramparts (Saint Christopher Bastion). It is richly adorned with elegant monuments, including a much-photographed neoclassical temple dedicated to Sir Alexander Ball.
