The Memorial’s interior is richly adorned. The walls are of light brownish-yellow Indiana limestone, while Tennessee pink marble was used for the floor and the statue pedestal. The ceiling has bronze girders ornamented with rosettes and sprigs of laurel and oak in relief. The Alabama marble between the rafters was saturated with melted beeswax to improve translucency and complement the natural light. Greek Ionic columns divide the interior into three chambers.
