The White House
The White House is the neoclassical workplace and official residence of the President of the United States. It was designed by the Irish-American architect James Hoban. Construction began in 1792 and was completed in 1800, when the second President, John Adams, moved into the building. The building consists of the Executive Residence in the center and the two wings attached to it with colonnades. The East Wing serves as the office of the First Lady, while the West Wing houses the president's office.
