In fact, not just one but two of them! What are we talking about? The steam engines of course! An innovative invention that had a huge contribution not only to the evolution of trains and ships but also to the operation of factories. The Gasworks’ steam engines operated uninterruptedly on a 24-hour basis and provided the pressure that was required for the gas’ journey through the underground pipes. Look for one of the two steam engines that are still functioning!
