An underground pipes network distributed the gas from the Gasworks to the whole city. The first streets that were lit up were the Syggrou Av, the Pireos Str., Kolokynthous and Ermou Str. Later on, the network was expanded with some other stations in Kallithea, Zografou and Patissia. This network is still visible in the city’s historical centre as it is partly used for the distribution of natural gas.
