Exit the lookout post. Continue walking along the same route until you reach the end of the low wall on the left. Here, you will find a single-storey building. Keep going until you reach a long ramp on your right. Go up the ramp and enter the level identified with the “No. 3 Battery” sign to your left. To the right, around the corner, is the entrance to the section of the fort leased to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. As this is private property, the area may be closed to the public. If it’s open, enter the arched door marked with the emblem of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta and take the steps to the upper level, where you will find the Magisterial Palace. However, if this section is closed, head over to the cannon posts on the left. From there, you can turn around to look back at the exterior of the Knights’ headquarters.
