The statue to see before you die
Statue of Oscar Wilde
The Oscar Wilde Memorial Sculpture commemorates the Irish poet and playwright Oscar Wilde who lived across the street from the statue at 1 Merrion Square. Although Wilde lived most of his life in England and died in Paris, he is among the many great names in literary history who claim Dublin as their home (the list includes four Nobel laureates of literature!). The life-size statue was made by the English artist Danny Osborne and was unveiled in 1997.
