Pterois volitans/ Lionfish
Ecological zones
This insatiable fish is a nocturnal predator. Its pointed fins are venomous and it usually keeps them upright. Thus, it can squeeze fish and then eat them with a sharp movement. Unfortunately, it is undesirable on the reefs, as its gluttony creates major problems in populations of many species.
