Omani heritage galore
National Museum of Oman
The National Museum opened in 2016 to showcase Omani heritage from the earliest settlements more than two million years ago to the present day. The museum’s collection has more than 12,000 artefacts, although visitors can enjoy approximately 5,500 objects arranged in fourteen permanent galleries. The innovative museum provides dozens of digital immersive experiences, allowing visitors to discover conservation methods employed by the institution’s scientists to preserve and present their collection (especially the old Bedouin silverworks since Oman has a long silversmithing tradition).
