Muttrah Souk is Oman’s most famous attraction, a labyrinth of small shops selling seemingly everything. The locals call it Souq Al Dhalam (Market of Darkness) because the bewildering conglomeration of shops packed to the rafters with antiques, spices, frankincense, scented oils, jewellery, rich textiles, everyday items, and touristy tackiness seems to block the sun. The souk comes alive after dark and promises countless hours of fun as you search the alleys for the perfect purchase.
