Dubai’s heritage gem
Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood
The Al Fahidi Historical District, formerly known as Al Bastakiya, was built by Persian merchant immigrants drawn by the trading importance of the Creek and the tax exemptions offered by the state. Now preserved as a heritage site, the neighbourhood showcases traditional ways of life that were prevalent in Dubai from the 19th century to 1970. Stroll through narrow, stone-paved streets and alleys. Marvel at buildings made from traditional materials like coral, stone and sandalwood. Gaze at the barajeels, wind towers rising above the rest of the buildings, ensuring proper ventilation inside. This is the place to be!
