At the center of life
Central Park
Though not the largest urban park in the world, Central Park still boasts almost 4 square kilometers of green space bang in the middle of one of the busiest and most crowded places on earth! Proposals for the creation of an urban park in Manhattan were first made in the 1840s, with the park completed in 1876, after construction works that demolished several existing structures to make space for it. Today, the park is under the management of the Central Park Conservancy, created in the 1980s to care for and maintain the area after a period of decline in the previous decades. Central Park is a beloved spot for both locals and tourists, and with good reason. There are plenty of grassy lawns to lie down in and relax, attractions like the Central Park Carousel and the Central Park Zoo, engaging activities like bicycle tours and open-air events (like the famous theatrical festival called Shakespeare in the Park), and several landmarks scattered throughout, which make turning corners feel like an adventure!
