The Roman Agora
The Roman Agora
Take the stairs to your right and you will reach the platform on your left hand. There you can see the Roman Agora, a square laid out with marble slabs which can still be seen today. The Romans established a large open market place, Agora, for visitors in the 2nd century AD. Surrounded on three sides by ionic style porticos, this busy market was full of stores, selling various objects for the citizens and visitors, not only from Greece but also from Italy, Asia and Africa.
