Rock of the Sibyl
Rock of the Sibyl
As you keep walking, you come to the rock of the Sybil, on your left, next to a tree. The Sibyl of Delphi was the first priestess that gave oracles on behalf of the earth, and, according to the legends, she was sitting there. She was called Erophile, Erophili. According to the myth, she was born 50 years before the Trojan War, and she had predicted that the Greeks would conquer Troy. Sibyl means prophetess in Ancient Greek. The exact number of Sibyls in Ancient Greece and their relationship to Apollo remains unknown.
