The Column with the Dancers is an offering to Apollo by the city-state of Athens. It was created in 330 BC and it's very impressive because of its size. It was placed directly in front of the Temple of Apollo. The girls depicted have been described as dancers due to their theatrical appearance. It was believed that the girls portrayed some minor goddesses or even Dionysus' women. But recent research suggests that they represent the three daughters of the first Athenian king, Cecrops. The Column is also decorated with various kinds of plants.
