The house that became the University
Kleanthes house
This was a house of Ottoman times, and Kleanthes gave it a neoclassical character. Behind you will see the courtyard, which retains the typical traditional loggia with glass panes. The house was known as the "Little Acropolis", which shows the impression it had made to the inhabitants of Athens, which was destroyed by the Revolution. Later, it was rented to house the High School and then the University, which stayed here until the majestic neoclassical building of Panepistimiou Street was built.
