Standing on the bridge, facing the caves across from the lake, take your left and, after that, the path to your right. Continue up this path until you see, at the top, a Neo-Manueline bench with colourful tiles and a lion. You might find several other visitors taking a rest here – and you can rest here too for a moment! Facing the bench, you will see stairs to the right going up; these will take you to a platform that stands atop the caves, and from where you can see the lake. If you wish to do this path, make sure to return to the bench, and then stand in front of it. There, take the stairs you will find immediately to the left, which will lead you to yet another short stairwell to the left again. Once at the bottom, turn immediately right. At the end of this path, you will find, to your left, the opening of the Loggia. This Loggia stands as a window to Rua Barbosa du Bocage, and from here you see part of the road that takes Sintra’s visitors to the Moorish Castle. In fact, you can see two of Sintra’s landmarks from here: the Moorish Castle atop the mountain, and up ahead, the big white twin chimneys of Sintra’s National Palace.
