Diodon holocanthus
The inner reef
Diodon holocanthus, or Long-spined Porcupinefish is a species of pufferfish that inhabits tropical and subtropical environments of the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic oceans. This species can increase its size up to 3 times if it feels threatened, by inflating its body with water, but also lift the thorns located on its body, thus ensuring its protection from predators.
