The make-over
Palazzo Blu
Once upon a time, a tower house occupied this area. Its strategic role was to oversee the river passages and bridge that connected the two banks of the Arno. The tower was modified several times, before finally being destroyed and replaced in the fourteenth century by a palazzo used as a residence by an affluent Pisan family. The palazzo changed hands multiple times over the centuries and suffered various transformations patiently until the sixteenth century. The 1800s were a turning point for the palazzo since it gained its present form with the square windows on the façade and the main door overlooked by a balcony.
