The Ionic temple
The next point of interest is the IONIC PROSTYLE TEMPLE OF ASKLEPIOS EARLY 3rd CENTURY BC a.k.a. the temple with the two standing columns adjacent to the altar. Hopefully, no ancient Greek priests are lurking among the ruins. Otherwise, they would ask for a monetary contribution before allowing you to visit the temple, and (chances are) you carry no ancient Greek coins. But then again, you can’t enter the temple, so perhaps the point is mute. Walk around the building to fully appreciate its understated glory as you enjoy the following three stories. The large coffer mentioned in the first story lies to the right of the line of grey stones separating the temple’s interior into two sections (best viewed from the temple’s long side near the terrace’s edge).
