Mycenaean society and culture
The Myceneans were an ancient Greek tribe, the Achaeans. The name Myceneans was given to them after their destruction because of their capital, Mycenae.
Until their writing style was decrypted, by Vendris and Chadwick, scholars could not guarantee their origins, even if they were the protagonists of the latter epics of the Greek poet, Homer.
Vendris and Chadwick understood that the language behind the "Linear B" writing style was the Greek one, and this is how they were able to decrypt it.
