Just another colorful welcome message
Mosaic de Joan Miro
Just look at this burst of color! This is Joan Miró’s own way of saying: Welcome to Barcelona! Inaugurated in 1976, it’s part of a trio of works meant to greet visitors arriving by land, air, and sea. This vibrant mosaic, decorating La Rambla with playful shapes in black, blue, red, and yellow, is the one that welcomes travelers from the port. Made of terrazzo tiles—white cement mixed with crushed glass—it’s not just eye-catching, it’s tough. Decades of footsteps haven’t dulled its charm. But before we go any further… who exactly was Joan Miró?
