Back on the main path and leaving the theater behind, we find ourselves leaving one sector of the city and entering another. Here, the Hellenistic city begins making space for the Roman one. As you will see in a few steps, the center moves from the Temple of Asclepius to the Roman Forum. However, from here you can still see several monuments connected with the sanctuary of Asclepius, the god of healing. Just below the trees, in line with the theatre, stands the so-called Peristyle House, which was probably used by the priestly guild attached to the shrine. Beside it, against the slope of the acropolis hill, are the remains of a Hellenistic stoa, a covered colonnade where pilgrims could sleep and await visitations from the god.
