Orthodox Chapels at the Square
Metropolis Square
At the square one can find the Orthodox cathedral. In the region of Grottas one can discern the existence of a plethora of small, white-washed Orthodox temples. They are Panagia Chrysopolitissa (along with the Holy Apostles, Saint Spyridon and Saint Charalambos), as well as Panagia Eleousa - Saint Thallelaios, the Holy Cross, Saint Nicholas and others. These temples were erected during the Latin and Ottoman regimes. The abundance of the modest Orthodox temples of Bourgos obviously reflect the degree of piety at the time.
